Start with the situation.

How many people are playing? Are they together or online? Which platforms do they own? Does crossplay work between those exact versions? Do they want something relaxed, frightening or demanding—and do they have twenty minutes or an entire evening?

The Finder starts with those questions. A famous game that cannot support the setup is not a useful recommendation.

Fit is different from acclaim.

WhatToGame tries to recommend games that fit the moment, rather than sorting everything by review score. Factual compatibility—player counts, modes, platforms and crossplay—is kept separate from contextual judgement about whether a game is genuinely good for a pair, a family, a group of friends or someone playing alone.

Editorial opinion stays visible.

Some games have a genuine WTG verdict or score. A small number receive an editorial medal. Those are human editorial opinions, not hidden ranking boosts, and medals are deliberately rare.

WhatToGame is independently built. The catalogue is not exhaustive and recommendations can improve as its data gets stronger.
