Our take.
Monster Hunter: World looked like exactly the kind of game I normally wouldn't get into, so I surprised myself by playing the entire base game alone. The world felt alive and the fights were good enough that progression almost became a bonus — I just wanted to hunt the next monster and figure out what it demanded from me. After finishing it I bought the expansion and finally tried playing online, and somehow the teamwork made an already great game even better.
